The gong is hit once by the Deus Excalibur and a second time by a headless horse. They accidentally awaken three ancient evils.
In the first episode, Webby led Huey, Dewey, and Louie to Scrooge's garage where Pixiu was being kept. It could only be released by ringing the gong three times. Eventually it was imprisoned in stone with a magic gong and discovered by Scrooge McDuck. The origins of Pixiu are unknown, but it is said that it hunted and stole gold in ancient times.
